Jeffrey Stern, Allen Kodish, Frank Summers, and Marcia Dobson present a panel on a therapeutic journey. George Hagman and Carol M. Press will lead a workshop on creativity, architecture and Frank Lloyd Wright. Estelle Shane and Lucyann Carlton will analyze methods of conceptualizing and clinically applying psychoanalytic theories of provision. Judith Pickles and Joye Weisel-Barth will help writers bring clinical and theoretical material to life on page. Allen Siegel will initiate an all-day basic Self Psychology class lecture. The morning courses will end with a panel of distinguished self psychologists, Marian Tolpin and Frank Lachmann considering the forward and leading edge transferences. In the afternoon, master class supervisions will be led by Shelley Doctors and Alan Kindler. Participants may also choose a workshop on contributions of child analytic treatment to the development of self psychology and adult treatment, led by Mark Smaller, Rosalind Chaplin Kindler, Jacqueline Gotthold, Iris Hilke, and Dorienne Sorter; or a workshop on application of psychoanalytic concepts to couples psychotherapy led by Carla Leone and David Shaddock. Margaret Amerongen, Margaret Baker, Myrna Orenstein, and Joseph Palombo will present a self psychological perspective on Learning Disabilities and their effects on adults and therapy. The Pre-Conference workshops will conclude with the exploration of contemporary self psychological concepts to termination of the therapeutic relationship.

Meeting Space The main conference begins with a Thursday evening program which will feature a rare film of Heinz Kohut discussing his thoughts regarding the need for a psychology of the self, and a keynote lecture delivered by David Terman that will provide a broad theoretical background to the four clinical panels to follow. Panel one, on Friday morning, will focus on the Selfobject Transference with James Fisch and Jody Messler-Davies as presenters, Susana Federici-Nebbiosi as moderator, and Amy Eldridge as case presenter. Panel two, on Friday afternoon, will analyze the Self with Richard Geist and Peter Buirski as presenters, and Ronald Bodansky as moderator. Panel three, on Saturday morning, will examine Interpretation with Anna Ornstein and Shelley Doctors as presenters, with Jill Gardner as moderator. Finally, panel four, on Sunday morning, will explore Forms and Transformations of Narcissism with Carlo Strenger and Frank Lachmann as presenters, with Estelle Shane as moderator.

Following the presentation of each of the first three panels, the attendees will break into small discussion groups to consider the presentations. The groups will be led by senior faculty. Twenty-four original paper and workshop sessions are scheduled, twelve on Saturday early afternoon and twelve on Saturday late afternoon. Issues of love, empathy, mourning, attachment theory, hope, and rage are just a few of the subjects to be presented.
